Job Summary The Director of Music Ministries will lead and coordinate all aspects of the church's music ministry with a focus on the Chancel Choir. This individual will help provide opportunities for worship and witness through music that enhances the spiritual life of the congregation and reflects the mission of Duncan Memorial.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate with the Pastor to plan regular and special music for all worship services
• Organize and direct Chancel Choir programs, including appointing choir officers
• Serve as a resource and coordinator for other musical offerings in the church
• Oversee maintenance of musical equipment, instruments, and music storage areas
• Secure guest musicians for special services (e.g., weddings, funerals) as needed
• Communicate expectations clearly to the organist, pianist, and guest musicians
• Recommend and manage the choir ministry budget
• Secure substitute directors when absent (with prior approval)
• Submit an annual ministry goals plan and participate in annual reviews
• Attend church staff and council meetings as requested
• Support continuing education (workshops, seminars, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Strong choral directing skills and experience (church setting preferred)
• Excellent communication and organizational ability
• Familiarity with sacred and liturgical music traditions (or a willingness to learn)
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and musicians
• Music degree preferred but not required

Job Summary The Organist supports the worship life of the church by providing organ music for services and accompanying choirs, ensembles, and soloists. The Organist is an integral part of the music ministry team.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide music for all regular and special worship services (prelude, offertory, postlude)
• Accompany all choirs, ensembles, and soloists in rehearsals and performances
• Play for weddings and funerals (as availability allows)
• Maintain a regular schedule of personal practice and preparation
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Proficiency in organ and piano performance
• Experience accompanying choirs and vocalists
• Familiarity with sacred and liturgical music traditions (or a willingness to learn)
• Reliability and sensitivity to the role of music in worship
